Dear Affordable Housing Applicant:

 

Thank you for inquiring about affordable housing with in the Township of Upper.  We currently administer the accessory apartment program and have two apartments that will be available during the next three months.  However, we receive a greater number of applications than there are units available, so placement in a unit is often not immediate.  We will be accepting applications until May 30, 2008.  If we do not fill the units we will readvertise for additional applicants.

 

In order to be eligible for an affordable housing unit, you must meet certain income limits as determined by the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing.  Income limits are determined by region.  Our housing units are located in Region 6 which includes the following counties: Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem.  Income limits can vary from year to year and depend upon the number of persons in the household.  The income limits for 2008 are:

If you believe you fall within these income limits, fill out and submit the application and $20 application fee to Affordable Housing, Township of Upper, PO Box 205, Tuckahoe, NJ 08250-0205 (Physical Address: 2100 Tuckahoe Road, Petersburg, NJ 08270).  If we approve your preliminary application, you will be placed in our applicant pool of eligible renters.  We will randomize our list.  If you are the first person selected, you will be invited to view the unit to see if you are interested.  If you are not interested, we will go to the next person on the list.  If you are interested, you will be required to submit all necessary documentation and income verification, as well as meet any credit requirements of the developer, in order to be certified for occupancy.   If you are certified as an eligible occupant, you are eligible to move into the unit.  If you do not meet all certification criteria, you will be removed from our list and must reapply when, and if, you meet the income requirements.
